A Photo Run-Down of our Independence Day Celebrations!

Independence Day celebrations at ILM were a big deal! See with photos how we incorporated learning, fun, and respect for the country in our celebrations.

We started with flag hoisting and the national anthem led by our grade 4 & grade 5 students followed by a welcome speech.

The Olympics buzz is all around us and this was great time to include some learning! And so our first activity involved sharing facts about the Olympics. All our pre-primary students shared facts about Olympics! They were all buzzing with excitement for their turn!

Then came a powerful and moving dance performance to the song 'Leherado'. We have an incredible video capturing the spirit of this day here. Check it out!

Our teacher, Sakina Kara, then gave a speech about the importance of being good citizens and leaders. She emphasized the importance of values like justice, responsibility, and unity that uphold the very fabric of our nation. A performance by our elementary students of the Hindi song ‘Insaf ki dagar pe’ beautifully echoed this message. Together, these two program elements served as a powerful reminder to the students of their role in shaping the future.

The next activity that excited our students and teachers alike was the Freedom Fighter’s Presentations. Here, children were paired together and one donned the role of a freedom fighter while the other narrated. This turned out to be a great exercise to learn about our rich history and our freedom fighters in the most Montessori way possible! It ticked all the boxes of integrated learning, teamwork, hands-on learning, and more.

We concluded this impactful event with principal Navaid Alam’s speech and a thank you note.
