ILM Montessori is Proud to Host the Cosy Nook Children's Literature Festival 2018

"Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift." - Kate DiCamilloBooks truly are gifts we open again and again. And somehow they never lose their charm. At ILM books aren't just means to literacy and reading proficiency. Thanks to the Montessori habit of "living what you study", books are fantasy lands, quaint portals to other worlds where heroes, villains, and even numbers, nouns and science come to vibrant life.So when Cosy Nook, the premium hand vetted collection of children's story books in Bangalore, reached out to us to host the second edition of the Cosy Nook Children's Literature Festival (CNCLF), we agreed with enthusiasm!

Book readings.... interactive workshops.... engaging and enthralling storytelling from masters. In short everything that's needed to convince the tech inclined little ones of today that the true warmth of being completely free of the fetters of the world and the worries of life can be had in the pages of a great book. The day of epic fun will start off with Aunty Jo and her famous 'Bag of Stories'. Jyothi Kunjoor is a certified professional storyteller who has brought dragons, jesters, jackals and more to life - over 600+ storytelling sessions. This is going to be a treat for all the senses. Then we'll clear the room for Gajapati Kulapati - the fun loving, adventure seeking pachyderm. Nope we aren't bringing an elephant to school. But Ashok Rajagopalan has made a career out of recounting the antics of Gajapati and demonstrating cool ways to make him move on paper.Shabnam Minwalla will cast her spell with a more mature narrative for the older kids.  We will meet Nimmi Daruwala, the girl who wanted a normal first day of Middle School, but ended up facing bus bullies and meeting a teacher who resembles a thirsty vampire.Post lunch break the merriment will continue with Khyrunnisa and her comic character Butterfingers.  Aptly named "Crash, Oops, Bang, Thud with Butterfingers" this session will engross children with the saga of Amar's (Butterfingers) clumsiness, while giving them a sense of how to use Onomatopoeia for punchier storytelling. We'll end the Cosy Nook Children's Literature Festival with Aditi De, the purveyor of poetry for the young and the explorer of lines that do not (necessarily) rhyme.Check out the full schedule here.
