Back Then and Right Now

Back Then and Right Now

This long awaited blog post is a pictorial journey chronicling the wonderful (read radical) transformation of a an ordinary suburban Koramangala house into a "House of Children."Despite starting a few weeks late, we took all our time to patiently decide and design every little (read minuscule) aspect to make what ILM Montessori is today.IMAG1025 Our learning environment had everything.ILM_SchoolHere's panoramic image of the same learning environment, but with everything in place. ILM_SchoolBack then all our valuable material was stocked in this Storage roomILM_SchoolRight now, invaluable student resources, are stored in this Reading Room.ILM_SchoolBack then, it was just another blank wall staring at us in a room. We couldn't tolerate this emptiness any longer.ILM_SchoolSo, we decided to give this room some "life"!ILM_SchoolOh, and this room was home to all our excess material.ILM_SchoolOur little Pablo Picassos and Frida Kahlos enjoy working excessively in the very same room.ILM_SchoolBack then, our front yard, on a bright and sunny day.ILM_SchoolRight now, our much loved outdoor play area on a gloomy monsoon day.ILM_SchoolThere's really nothing to say. It's the Sandpit before and after construction.ILM_SchoolOur driveway was clearly missing something and was far from looking inviting and welcoming.ILM_SchoolWhen bricks and stone couldn't, a few plants, benches and good sunlight give it a much needed lease of life!Back then, our garage looked..... Pretty much like a garage. ILM_SchoolToday it looks..... Yes pretty much like a Principal's chamber. ILM_SchoolBack then, ILM Montessori was just another idea shackled by doubt and fear.Right now, it is a house of children that hopes to inspire and nurture the lives of its little residents.
